Information on Recent Emails Regarding Incident Near NorthPark Center
Dallas, TX, January 11, 2012—NorthPark Center management is aware of numerous emails that have circulated regarding an assault on a group of young men near our property last week. We also are concerned and take any such reports very seriously. We actively patrol our property as a deterrent to crimes of any kind and deeply regret that this incident occurred.
As confirmed by the Dallas Police Department, news reports and at least one of the victims, the assault occurred on the northeast corner of Park Lane and North Central Expressway on the Caruth Plaza property. We only became aware of this incident when the victims returned to Macy's at NorthPark, where their car was parked. We have determined that all Macy's employees reacted in a professional and compassionate manner in this instance, and any characterization otherwise is simply not accurate. Macy's staff assisted in caring for these young men and called emergency personnel promptly.
We are very mindful of young people congregating or being disruptive on our property and devote substantial time and attention to protecting our guests. We can also confirm that no similar incident has occurred at NorthPark, nor do we have the power to dictate what the news media do or do not cover. We encourage every NorthPark guest to be mindful of their personal safety and report any suspected criminal activity or any complaint to our security office. It is unfortunate that in our society this sort of criminal activity can occur at any place at any time.
